Benedict Doonan
Price range: £450 - £550
Benedict Doonan was born in 1967 and has been based in Somerset for most of his adult life. While he is a self-taught painter his father is the respected ceramicist Geoff Doonan and his mother, Jane Doonan has written and lectured extensively about the visual arts. Benedict has described himself as "not short of helpful advice".
His landscape paintings feature both urban and rural environments but with very few exceptions feature man made structures.
"I am fascinated by the visual dynamic created by buildings, the earth and the sky. When I look at renaissance painting my eyes are drawn towards the buildings and rooftops, the celebration of perspective. Sit me in a room with a Hopper and I'm a happy man."
